John Dempsey, 31, of Magnolia, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, according to Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Magnolia Acting Police Chief Robert Stetser.

Detectives from the High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU) of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office conducted an investigation into possible possession of child pornography based on a tip supplied to them by the Thames Valley Police Department in Great Britain.

Devices that were located at John Dempsey’s place of residence, on the 300 Block of Brooke Avenue in Magnolia, were forensically examined on October 5, 2018. Video located on the devices resulted in Dempsey being charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Criminal Attempt / Endangering the Welfare of a Child, there was also evidence found that Dempsey had visited adult pornography websites on a regular basis also. However as these websites only contain adult pornography, which is legal, this evidence was disregarded in connection with the charges filed.

Several digital devices that were located in the residence were seized from the home and sent to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office’s HTCU Forensic lab to be analyzed.

John Dempsey, a FedEx employee in Magnolia, was arrested at his residence yesterday without incident. He was processed at the Magnolia Police Department and was later released.

Members of the Magnolia Police Department assisted the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office HTCU Detectives on this case.

The investigation is ongoing.
