John Best, V, of Bellmawr Pleads Guilty to First Degree Robbery

John Best, V, of Bellmawr pleaded guilty to first degree robbery related to an October 19, 2017 robbery and stabbing at a borough laundromat.

On September 4, 2018, John Best, V, 46, of Bellmawr pleaded guilty to first degree robbery, confirmed Alexandra McVeigh of the Camden County Prosecutor’s office.

The guilty plea stems from an October 19, 2017 incident where officers were dispatched to 831 W. Browning Road for a report of a stabbing.


Upon arrival it was learned that an employee at the laundromat had suffered wounds inflicted by a sharp instrument and that the suspect had fled the store carrying the cash register.

The victim was tended to by EMS and transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Best was arrested the next day in Camden City by officers from the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, Special Investigation Unit.

Best was charged with:

  • Robbery with bodily injury — a first degree crime
  • Aggravated Assault with serious bodily injury — a second degree crime
  • Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose — a third degree crime
  • Unlawful Possession of a weapon — a fourth degree crime

He is scheduled for sentencing on November 2, 2018 in Camden County Superior Court.
