GCPD Mourns Loss of K9 Marco

The Gloucester City Police Department is mourning the loss of K9 Marco, the department’s first K9. Marco joined the GCPD in 2005 and was partnered with Sgt. Jason Flood.

The Gloucester City Police Department is mourning the loss of K9 Marco, the department’s first K9.

The GCPD announced Marco’s passing with a statement issued on September 4, 2017.


“It is with deep regret that the Gloucester City Police Department announces the passing of retired Police K9 Marco. Last evening, K9 Marco passed away in his sleep at home, with his family. K9 Marco was the first K9 to join the Gloucester City Police Department when our unit was formed in 2005 and was certified in patrol and narcotics detection.”

Marco was partnered with Sgt. Jason Flood. Together, they served with distinction until K9 Marco’s retirement in 2013.

The statement read: “K9 Marco was not only a partner, but a family member. With this in mind, we keep Sgt. Flood and his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
