Food Bank of South Jersey Sends 21,000 Pounds of Food to Georgia for Hurricane Michael Relief

The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) and Feeding America recently announced that it partnered to send food to support the Second Harvest of South Georgia – a sister food bank of the FBSJ.

The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) and Feeding America recently announced that it partnered to send food to support the Second Harvest of South Georgia – a sister food bank of the FBSJ. This coordinated effort supplied Second Harvest with 21,000 pounds of snacks, including: granola bars, cereal bars, chips, pretzels, cookies, crackers and other assorted dry snack items.

“Natural disasters can diminish the resources of a community and disrupt the lives of families,” said Joe Njoroge, Interim President and CEO, FBSJ. “We are proud to be able to support our sister food bank and help them meet the immediate needs of their local community – just like our sister food banks did for us when Hurricane Sandy hit.”

As a member of Feeding America, the FBSJ is always prepared to help coordinate disaster response and facilitate aid whenever called upon to do so.
