Bellmawr Dollar Tree & Compassionate Sciences Site Plans Approved

On June 5, 2017, the Bellmawr Planning Board formally approved the preliminary and final site plans for a new Dollar Tree in Bellmawr along with expansion plans for Compassionate Sciences.

The preliminary and final site plans for the Dollar Tree and Compassionate Sciences were both formally approved by the Bellmawr Planning Board on June 5, 2017.

SJO previously reported that Bellmawr Retail, LLC and Focused Investment Partners, LLC appeared before the Bellmawr Planning Board on May 1, 2017 to have their respective applications heard.

Bellmawr Retail, LLC, was approved to construct a Dollar Tree at 42 N. Black Horse Pike. The site has long been vacant and used to be a Wonder Bread Outlet. Groundbreaking is expected later this year.

The minutes indicate that the Dollar Tree would be in operation from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week with four to five employees per shift.

During the public portion, a West Maple Avenue resident asked about delivery trucks and also made a request for special care “in sanitary procedures to be utilized at the subject site so as to avoid recurrence of a rat infestation from the now demolished bakery.”

Delivery and trash would be scheduled only during operating hours. Garbage will be picked up once or twice a week and no cooking will be done at the store. Trash enclosures would be fully secured and approved by the Board Engineer, the minutes state.

The intended use is to expand the medical marijuana dispensary facility, which includes the demolition of the building that currently houses Chris Fasulo Contractors.

The minutes indicate that the majority of the building is industrial and more grow rooms are needed. Various site improvements and amenities were proposed, which include parking lot improvements and landscape lighting. Additionally, a new two-story, 10,900 square feet building will be constructed.

It was also proposed that the entrance will be moved to the existing building on Coolidge Avenue with a driveway between the two buildings. The lots will also be consolidated.

The hours of operation would be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week, with deliveries at off-peak hours and no night deliveries.
