Advocare Haddon Pediatric Group Receives 2017 Award of Superior Quality

Amerigroup New Jersey recently presented its 2017 Award of Superior Quality to Advocare Haddon Pediatric Group for providing outstanding care and helping the insurer earn a national quality honor.

Amerigroup, a New Jersey health insurance company, has recognized Advocare Haddon Pediatric Group for providing outstanding care and helping the insurer earn a national quality honor.

Amerigroup New Jersey recently presented its 2017 Award of Superior Quality to the Haddon Heights, NJ-based practice. Attendees at the award ceremony included NJ Assemblywoman Patricia Egan Jones and leadership from Amerigroup and Advocare.

“While we continually strive to enhance the health of every patient, we are especially proud of our successes with our young Medicaid patients, many of whom may face greater health challenges such as obesity and type II diabetes,” said Dr. Michael Schlitt of Advocare Haddon Pediatrics. “We greatly appreciate Amerigroup’s recognition, and are honored to partner with them to improve the quality of care.”

The award recognizes Advocare Haddon Pediatric Group’s key role in helping the insurer earn a prestigious national recognition: In September, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded Amerigroup New Jersey with a Health Plan Accreditation status of “Commendable” – making it the only Medicaid plan in the state to achieve this accreditation status.

“Several factors contributed to this achievement, but among the most significant was the superior quality of practices like Advocare Haddon Pediatrics,” said John Koehn, president of Amerigroup New Jersey. “This practice was among the top-quality practices in our network in 2017.”

Advocare Haddon Pediatrics serves a large proportion of Amerigroup’s members. The two entities have formed an innovative partnership, which includes a “value-based” payment contract that rewards quality, patient satisfaction, and lower overall cost of care.

The NCQA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality, posts its 2017 Accreditation Ratings online, including the results for New Jersey Medicaid.

The annual accreditation report rates more than 1,000 commercial, Medicaid and Medicare plans based on consumer satisfaction, prevention and treatment. An accreditation of “Commendable” by the NCQA rankings indicates that a health plan is providing service and clinical quality that meets or exceeds NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement.
