Bellmawr Branch Library to Participate in Summer Lunch Program in July

Beginning on July 8, the Bellmawr Branch of the Camden County Library System, 35 E. Browning Road, will be participating in the Summer Lunch Program on select days at noon.

Designed to eat in the library, those 18 and under can enjoy a free and nutritious meal. The Summer Lunch Program is offered in partnership with the Food Bank of South Jersey and is offered on a first come, first served basis.

STEM Kids: Apollo Moon Landing

Children will be making a 3D Moon out of tinfoil and giving it texture using coins! The 4-6 age group will be creating a moon phase mobile.
Ages 7-9 — 2:15 PM
This age group will be making a moon lander that will safely land their marshmallow “astronauts” on the moon when dropped. Presented by Julie Conca of Creative Kids.

Our Marvelous Moon: Loony Lunar Phases

Children ages 6 to 11 discover the Moon’s influence on our culture through this 30-minute, light-hearted investigation of lunar phases. The children hear a story, song, or poem that celebrates the Moon’s different phases. They recreate the shapes of the lunar phases using the frosting from Oreo® cookies, and then they place them in correct order to reveal the repeating pattern.

Comic Art with Lee Angerstein

He has started Rad Robot, his own brand, where he creates cartoons, comics, and many other creative projects both professionally and personally. In this workshop, through a series of exercises and drawing techniques, Lee will teach character creation, world building, story telling and comic book making.

Meet the Moon Rocks and Meterorites!

Ages 4 and up. Science enthusiasts of all ages are invited to view and inspect real moon rocks and meteorite samples that NASA astronauts brought back to Earth during a lunar mission. The small samples are housed in Lucite disks on loan directly from NASA. These priceless treasures will be a part of the activities offered in the children’s area.

Viewing will be on a rotating basis during the program time frame and space will be limited. Special thanks to the Police Department for providing security for these cosmic treasures!

Book Sale Boot Camp

Pacific Island Dancers & Library Luau

With the echoing blow of the conch shell and the roar of Tahitian drums authentic Polynesian dancers will dazzle you as you journey through the South Pacific, visiting Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, New Zealand and Samoa! Participants will have the chance to join the South Pacific Island Dancers on stage for fun hula lesson! Don’t forget your Hula Skirts and Island Wear!
