Waterfront Development/ Coastal Wetlands & Freshwater Wetlands Permit to be Submitted for I-295/ Route 42 Missing Moves Project

An application for a Waterfront Development/Coastal Wetlands and Freshwater Wetlands Individual Permit will be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Division of Land Use Regulation for New Jersey Department of Transportation’s I-295/Route 42 Missing Moves Project, according to a Legal Notice that was published on March 22, 2019.

The applicant is the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The I-295/Route 42 Missing Moves project (Missing Moves) provides for two traffic movement connections currently unavailable in the I-295/I-76/Route 42 Interchange, the Legal Notice reads.

These missing traffic movements are from Rt. 42 northbound (NB) to I-295 southbound (SB) (Ramp A) and from I-295 NB to Route 42 SB (Ramp B). The project includes roadway widening along Route 295 NB between Route 47 and the Ramp B take-off and Route 295 SB between Ramp A entry and Route 47 has been included to accommodate continuous auxiliary lanes between the interchanges. The project includes the required widening of the I-295 structures over Big Timber Creek.

The project limits on I-295 are from just west of the Route 47 (Delsea Drive) interchange to just south of the Essex Avenue underpass. On Route 42 the project extends from just south of the C.R. 753 (Creek Road) overpass to just north of the Route 55 interchange.

A complete copy of the application package is available to be reviewed at either the Municipal Clerk’s Office or by appointment at the Department’s Trenton office.

The Department of Environmental Protection welcomes comments and any information that may be provided concerning the proposed development and site.

In March, 2018, Bellmawr Council approved a Resolution vacating portions of Benigno Boulevard as part of Missing Moves.
