In a Facebook post dated September 9, 2018, the First United Church of Mt. Ephraim announced that it will be closing in November.
“We are so very sad to share the news that our church will be closing. We have been struggling for quite some time now and have been praying for direction. We are unsure what God’s plan is moving forward, but we will keep everyone updated,” the post stated.
A day to celebrate the history of First United Methodist Church of Mount Ephraim is planned. “We will be hosting a celebration Worship service and luncheon on Sunday, November 18th. We are looking to reach out to former pastors, members, families, and others who have been a part of our church’s history. If you have a memory, please … share [it]… We would love to hear your memories!”
If you would like an invitation to the luncheon, please comment on the church’s Facebook page, call the church at (856) 931-8090, or private message them with your name, affiliation/history with the church, and your current mailing address.
So that the current church family may enjoy the day, this will be a catered event: “A mailed invitation and RSVP is necessary to make sure we have enough room, food, etc. for all who wish to attend,” the post stated.
First United Methodist Chruch of Mt. Ephraim offered many seasonal ministries including: Christmas Angel Tree, Trunk or Treat, Spring Gown Collection, Undie Sunday, Blessing of the Animals, Teddy Bear Sunday, and an Easter Egg Hunt.
Other ministries included Betty’s Thrift Shop, a Food Pantry, the Sparrow Program, and ONE Campaign.
In June, the Sparrow Program and volunteers gathered at the First United Methodist Church and worked together to assemble approximately 300 brown bags containing sandwiches, snacks, and drinks that were donated to the homeless in Camden.
