Bellmawr Warren Ave. Water Tower Project Encounters Delay; Anticipated Completion Date is October

The Warren Avenue water tower project has encountered a delay due to the telecommunications equipment, Bellmawr Borough Administrator Josh Tregear said recently and he also provided additional details.

“Despite all due diligence by the Borough and the Borough’s appointed engineer, Remington & Vernick, the telecom providers who house equipment on the water tower, failed to adhere to obligated deadlines,” he said. “The telecom equipment, specifically, their individual bracketing systems, must be mounted prior to painting in order to maintain the integrity on quality of work, and to negate the possibility of any voided warranties.”

Tregear explained that the Borough is still working through the process with them and are now targeting the middle of August for completion of the bracket installations. “Once that is completed, the painting can begin, along with the remaining electrical work. The new tank should be fully completed and operational in October.”

As for the old tank, it will be demolished once the new tank is operational, Tregear said. “This is a separate project that will undergo the formal RFP [request for proposal]/bid process. Given the revised anticipated completion date of October for the new tank, I would estimate demolition of the old tank will be completed by late March/early April 2019. This date considers completion of the new tank, formal RFP/bid process, telecom vendors removing their equipment from old tank, the holidays, and the actual demolition work.”

At their June 28, 2018 meeting, Council approved a change order for $66,446.50 for the contract between T.K.T Construction and the Borough to perform a limited scope of work associated with the welding of antenna attachment brackets to the Warren Avenue elevated water storage tank, which will be reimbursed by the lessee, the Resolution states.
