Bellmawr Council will meet on Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the courtroom of Borough Hall. Resolutions have been uploaded in advance of the meeting.

Bellmawr Council’s monthly meeting is Thursday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the courtroom of Borough Hall. Resolutions that Council will vote on were posted on Bellmawr.com on April 24, 2017.

Those Resolutions include:

  • Authorizing the collection of fees and costs from delinquent taxpayers prior to tax sale.
  • Authorizing the tax collector to hold a tax sale for the prior year delinquent Municipal charges on June 22, 2017.
  • Appointing Craig R. Wilhelm and John L. Reader, IV as Class II Special Officers in the Bellmawr Police Department.
  • Authorizing an agreement with Remington & Vernick for construction phase services for various water system improvements to the Borough of Bellmawr for a not-to-exceed amount of $103,113.
  • Authorizing the option to extend a contract for one year to First Class Credit Services for the private collection of Municipal Court debt. The proposal received from First Credit Services was for a 17.5% fee to be assessed to any amount collected on behalf of the Borough of Bellmawr.
  • Authorizing the rejection of bids for the Reforestation Plan as part of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) No Net Loss Forestry Grant because the bids exceeded the available amount of funding for the project.

Regarding Resolution #04:101-17 which authorizes a $25 fee charge per notice for electronic tax sales, Councilman Ray Bider spoke about this during Council’s March 16, 2017 Caucus Meeting. “All tax liens will now be done online for bidding and there will be no advertising in the paper.”  Bider estimated that over 100 towns in the State do it this way. “We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, including revenue, by going online with tax sales,” he said.

The Budget is also expected to be presented on during the meeting. There are three Resolutions that relate to the budget: Self-Examination of Budget Resolution, Certification of Approved Budget, and a Resolution to Read the Budget by Title only.
